Interest Groups for Adults

Art Group

St Peter's Art Group meet on Thursday mornings between 10 am and 12 noon in the Community room, led by Alan and Mary Smith. Mainly the members paint in watercolour or pastel, enjoying a very friendly meeting, plus coffee.

Our group meet on the third Monday of every month from 7.30pm to 10.30pm. Each month we have a pre-determined theme and members bring wine relating to that country. We taste and discuss each wine and decide the best wine of the evening (white and red). I also demonstrate the art of home wine making and encourage our members to enter their wines in local shows.
We celebrated the 10th Anniversary of this Group in January 2004 and now have 26 members, all interested in different aspects of commercial and homemade wines.

Housegroups

Housegroups and prayer groups meet during the week around the parish in peoples homes. The housegroups pray, study the Bible, and sometimes sing, together. It gives an opportunity to meet a smaller group of people and get to know them better so that those in the group can give each other support.

The Bowls Club meets at 6.30 pm every Tuesday in the main hall. The entance fee is only 50p, which includes the games and refreshments. Everyone is welcome to come and join us but spaces are limited. We usually finish about 9.30pm.

Music in Worship

The Music in Worship Group exists, simply to point the congregation towards God during our Sunday Services. We are joined as individuals with a desire to lift up the name of Jesus and share that common purpose. We are worshipers rather than musicians – although there is a degree of musical talent within the Group, which consists of guitar, bass, piano and 4 flutes. We meet each Thursday at 8:00pm, in Church, to pray and praise God – and from that shared time of worship we weave together the musical element of the service for the following Sunday.
As a church we make use of the vast reservoir of traditional organ-led hymns which has grown over the centuries to form a basis for worship – but we also make liberal and effective use the equally large pool of modern worship songs and choruses which speak of, and enable us to witness to, a personal and intimate relationships with God. Our singers, about a dozen in all, have no special talent – other than a desire to serve the Living God. The fellowship shared between the members of the Group is a particular blessing to all who are involved.
We are an inclusive group, and welcome new members – whether they want to join us for the ‘long haul’ or just to share occasional worship with us. The Group is ‘led’ by Steve and Margaret Smith and you can contact them any Sunday in Church – or on 0113 2529123.
